Mr. Blue on Blue – Rehabilitating – In Need of Sponsors!!

Mr. Blue is a 20-year-old Standardbred Gelding who stands at __ hands tall. He arrived here at the rescue on October 21, 2022. His USTA racing name is “Mr. Blue on Blue”. During his racing career he was raced as both a Pacer and Trotter which is rare for a horse to do, they are normally an either or. He had 7 starts as a Trotter earning his owners $608. He had 102 starts as a Pacer earning his owners a little under $50,000. After his racing career, he ended up in a kill pen in Shippensburg, PA. We believe he came from Amish before ending up in a kill pen due to how he is built. He is lame as he has a stifle injury which is why he ended up in the kill pen. You can see his stifle injury which is located about 6-8 inches before the top of the leg on the inside/front. The stifle is considered the most complex joint of the horse’s body with the similar function to a human knee. 9 times out of the 10 he will never be sound to be worked or ridden. We are at least hoping that he can become pasture sound, making a great companion to someone’s horse! The rescue has already dealt with a same injury with Spirit who is also a Standardbred, he is in fact pasture sound, so we have high hopes for Mr. Blue! He is a big boy and a real sweetheart even after all he was experienced. He is currently being quarantined on the other side of the property with the two other Standardbreds that were bailed with him which are Milliondollarbonus and Boo Gurney. We have already started them on the rehabilitation program so they should be gaining weight back in no time. We will update his page when we learn more about his personality along with his weight
