Trumpet- Crossed the Rainbow Bridge to Heaven
Trumpet is a 16 year old Standardbred Gelding who stands at 16.2 hands. His U.S. Trotting name is “Real Politician” we are still getting his racing career information. Once his racing career was over he ended up in the Kill Pen in Pennsylvania. He was in rough shape upon his arrival at the rescue on June 30, 2021. He was malnourished being a 2 on the body scale. He arrived with Atlas who is a Standardbred Gelding who was rescued from a different kill pen. They did quarantine together where their best friend bond blossomed. They are so bonded at the hip we couldn’t get solo pictures of them while they were in quarantine. Once he was fully rehabilitated he did receive a soundness check and he is not sound due to a bad stifle. On November 19,2021 he did give us a scare as he tried to colic. Thankfully, we caught it and he was able to receive treatment quickly. He watched him during the night and the following day closely to make sure he wasn’t showing any more signs of colicing. He has the personality like a puppy dog. He loves to be brushed and loves treats. He loves his food and as a big boy we make sure he receives a little more than the others because of his size. Sadly, he crossed the rainbow bridge to Heaven on August 27, 2022. He crossed the rainbow bridge to Heaven over night and we aren’t 100% sure why he left, he was so young. He had been previously been treated for ulcers and then was tubed the night before he passed as he was showing signs of colic. Our Founder Ms. Debbie checked on him multiple times at night but when she went to check on him at 6 am he was gone. We love and miss you Trumpet.
