Margarita- Crossed the Rainbow Bridge to Heaven
Margarita is an 8-year-old Off the Track Thoroughbred Mare who stands at 16.3 hands. Her Jockey Club Name is “Agua de Fuego”. During her racing career she had 21 starts making her owners a little under $22,000. We are going to look up to see if she had any babies during her career. After her racing career, she found herself in a place a horse should never be in a kill pen. Thank you for Race Funds for bailing her out of the kill pen and transporting her to the rescue. She arrived at the rescue in the beginning of September. When she was at quarantine, she developed a snotty nose but thankfully it was all cleared up before she arrived at the rescue. She was here at the rescue in August, and she seemed what she would make a full recovery. We started to notice a change in her walk as she was becoming lame. We were thinking that she possible had a bowed tendon and she would only be pasture sound (this is completely fine to us as we have many of those babies). Turned out her rear suspensories which was causing her significant pain. Sadly, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge to Heaven on November 9,2022. She was such a character! She was very loveable and loved the attention. She became friends with Imthunderman who is another Thoroughbred who was also rescued from a kill pen. It is terribly sad that she was only 8 years old, she had so much more life left in her, we wished there was more we could have done for you Margarita. You are now running in the sky pain free with all the other rescues who crossed the rainbow bridge as well! We love and miss you, Margarita.
