Biggie Smalls – Crossed the Rainbow Bridge to Heaven
Biggie Smalls is a 12-year-old Standardbred Gelding who stands at 15.2 hands. He was a harness racer and his USTA name is “Big Award” he won over $59,000. Once his racing career was over the Amish got a hold of him for a while, after they were, he ended up in a kill pen. He was saved from a kill pen in North Carolina. When he arrived sadly, he was a 1 on the body scale. He had severe rain rot all over, fresh whip marks that were open, a wound on his coronary band on the back left, and two abscess we drained. When he arrived during his 3rd day he developed Strangles. He also had nails from shoes that broke off a long time ago that were still in his front hooves. After getting a farrier out to see him he was wonderful by the way thank you Allen, the laminae were stretched plus he had bruising on his hoof. Biggie had worms too. After all of that he still finds it in him to trust us slowly and gain a bond with us. He is the sweetest kind-hearted horse you will ever meet. He never shows negative behavior; he is always doing his own thing. He is a companion horse due to him being lame. He has a back-end problem making him not rideable, but he still has a lot of love to give anyone. Sadly, December 2, 2020 we had to make a hard but the best decision to put Biggie Smalls to sleep. When he arrived, his back end was off after leaving the Amish, but we still wanted to give him a second chance at life. Biggie Smalls back end had given out which cannot be fixed. He was here for only a year but during that year he learned what good meal and lots of love were. He left with a sparkle in his eyes showing that he was grateful for this last year of unconditional love that everyone would give him because he was so sweet. We love you Biggie Smalls!
