Beauty – Crossed the Rainbow Bridge to Heaven

Beauty was a 30-year-old Tennesse Walker Mare who stands at 14.3 hands tall. When she arrived here at the rescue was a 1.5 on the body scale, her winter coat was covering the horror underneath. You could feel practically every bone when you touched her. We can’t thank you enough to Nicole W. who is the owner of Second Chance to Dance Equine for going to pick her up and bring her back to the rescue. Upon her arrival we started her on a strict feeding regimen of Tribute Seniority which is 100% digestible. We were feeding her 3-4 small meals a day and as always it was completely soaked with water. She had a large wormy gut. Due to her we highly believe that she was not able to eat hay which is why we fed her a little more to ensure she was able to keep her body warm. She received a loving makeover from a few high schoolers that were volunteering that day. She adored the love and attention that she was receiving that she ended up falling asleep! Sadly, on December 15, 2022, when Ms. Debbie went to the barn to start the day, she found Beauty laying down and she could not get back up. Mike, Dr. Garrett, and Jose all came over to see if they could get her up. She looked like she wanted to get up so bad, but her body was failing, and her body could not support her anymore. Dr. Garrett mentioned that during the cold winter nights you could be doing everything right but sometimes a horse’s body cannot handle it. We were originally told she was 27 but when Dr. Garrett checked her teeth, she was more towards 30-years-old. We were all upset with the fact she was robbed a second chance at life. We all wanted her to just live a little longer so she could have had a wonderful retirement. She wasn’t here long but she made an impact on a lot of people’s hearts. We love and miss you Beauty.
