Spirit – Rehabilitating
Spirit is a 12-year-old Standardbred Gelding who stands at 16.3 hands. Spirit’s U.S. Trotting Association (USTA) name is Spirit Ho who ended up in the kill pen once his racing career was over. He was almost sent to Slaughter in Mexico but thankfully he was saved at the last minute! He arrived here at the rescue on October10, 2020. When he arrived, he had Amish Road shoes on that have clearly been on for a long period of time. He got his shoes taken off the following day and he immediately showed that he was relieved of the pain by running and prancing around. He is a nice mover without a doubt, he is a trotter. He was worked inside the ring and he is sound and does amazing with listening to groundwork. He will be receiving a riding evaluation on Saturday to see what of rider he will need! We will keep updating his story when we learn on how he rides. He is very kind-hearted even when first arriving he just wanting someone to show him love. He is a sweet guy who is just lucky to have another chance at life. He has recently fell in love with Piper a 12-year-old Thoroughbred, they aren’t the smoothest couple, but they make it work. He is a kind horse who has such a nice demeanor! He does not have a mean bone in his body.
