Wilbur – Rideable for Light Riding – In Need of Sponsors
Wilbur is a 16-year-old Quarter Horse who stands at 15 hands. Wilbur was a local starvation along with his friend Mr. Ed. When Wilbur arrived, we automatically realized he needed to gain about 75lbs rather than Mr. Ed only needs to fill his back line. He was quite scared of lead lines along with being a little bit skittish. He has grown to learn that lead ropes are not dangerous, but we are still building the trust between Wilbur and lead lines. Since being here he has been opening slowly but surely! He wants to receive attention from our volunteers, he was quickly learned that he loves to be brushed. If you could brush him all day, I bet you he would. It is rewarding when gaining his trust, it does take some time, but he is willingly to try. He had a riding evaluation done and he is sound for only light riding. Wilbur and Mr. Ed must be adopted out together since they came from the same place making them bonded. Wilbur would be great for pleasure rides, light trail rides or just rides around the property would be great but nothing extreme. Wilbur is low on the pecking order but thankfully his friend Mr. Ed is high up, so he is protected by his friend. We are still working on gaining his complete trust along with Mr. Ed since they were abused so bad.
