Lindsay – Permanent Resident – In Need of Sponsors

Lindsay is a 21-year-old Quarter Horse Mare. She has been here at the rescue for 5 years now. She is a beautiful X Ranch Horse that neck reined. She was saved from a Pennsylvania kill pen with a severely infected leg.  Lindsay was in rough shape going into quarantine, all four of her legs had fresh scars from being wrapped in wire or something equally horrid. While in quarantine her leg had to be lanced to help drain the infection. She was treated with two rotations of antibiotics – Exceed and SMZ. On September 28, 2016 Lindsay arrived at the rescue along with Happy. She had gained some weight during quarantine and her infected leg had gone down significantly. Lindsay was supposed to go to a therapy program before we found out about her injuries in quarantine. Sadly, she arrived with navicular BUT was still able to be ridden lightly. Unfortunately, she was adopted out with people who did not listen to the rescue saying she needed to be ridden lightly. The rescue was contacted that the owners were posting pictures of them at Uwharrie National Forest; it is a rough trail to ride especially for Lindsay. The owners contacted us, and she was returned completely lame. She has been doing okay for the last 2 1/2 years because she was on previcox. She was switched to Bute for a while, but she is back on previcox. Sadly, it has been a little more harder for her to move around the rescue. She loves being brushed; she will make sure you brush her before anyone else. She is in love with DaVinci! Wherever you see Lindsay DaVinci is not far behind or far away. In a way they have helped each other heal and become the best they can be.
