Hansel – Companion Pony – Adopted to His Forever Home!!

Hansel is a 5 year old mini pony gelding. He arrived here at the rescue with his friend Gretel as an Animal Control case. They contacted us in desperate need of help with Hansel’s health. Hansel arrived as a stud but he is now a happy gelding :). Upon arrival Hansel had a tumor growing out of his right eye leaving him in great amount of pain. The previous owner said he was kicked by a larger horse. Hansel & Gretel were both a little timid and scared upon arrival. They did not want any part of human touch. They both went to our vet tech’s house for over a month to get Hansel’s eye removed. While over there is when they learned that people weren’t bad from the vet tech’s daughter. She taught them to love and trust again. Thankfully, the tumor wasn’t cancerous and our vet was able to remove the tumor successfully! He does great getting around with only one eye especially even when he decides to venture out on his own to explore more parts of the rescue. He has a large personality that definitely makes up for his size! He will come running to you for some attention as it is his favorite thing. We thought that he was closely bonded to Gretel since they arrived together but they showed us they were just good friends. They would do their own thing all day and had different friends. His friend Gretel has been adopted to a wonderful forever home and now it’s Hansel turn. He has found a wonderful home with Rhiannon N. He has several other mini horses that will live his whole life with! They all love each other and are quickly learning how to adjust to each other! We wish Hansel and Rhiannon with making plenty of great memories together!!
