Dutchess – Crossed the Rainbow Bridge to Heaven
Dutchess is a 23 year old Mare who stands at 14.1 hands tall. Dutchess arrived here at the rescue on February 6, 2022 with Ava. We believe that Ava is Dutchess’ daughter. When she arrived she was a 1 on the body scale. They were in this condition due to the fact their owner passed away. Someone who was concerned for their well being reached out to us, we did not hesitate to help. She did gain back some of her weight during rehabilitation but her back end was off when she would walk. We had the vet come inspect to see if there was anything we could do to help relieve her of the pain and help her be comfortable. Sadly, her patella was so far displaced it was causing her pain 24/7. The vet compared the pain to be the same pain if a human tore their all in every step we take. The vet informed us that there was nothing we could do to help keep her pain free with these injuries. We helped her crossed the rainbow bridge on March 11, 2022. We wished that there was something we could do more for you but we know your watching over Ava. We miss you Dutchess.
