DaVinci – Permanent Resident – Partially Sponsored by Joe S.!!
DaVinci is a 29-year-old Paint gelding who stands at 15.3 hands. He was rescued from the Shippensburg Kill pen about 5 years ago as a stud. When he arrived, he had a clear blank stare with no personality showing. He came here as an 18-year-old, but we told him he was 12 years old, so he was gelded. Thank god he survived the procedure leaving him a happy gelding now! Since he was gelded at such a late age, he can still be a bit studdish around the girls. He has received 30 days of professional training, but it was very unpleasant for him. DaVinci was abused so bad we could not trim his hooves he would fight with all he had in him. It was so bad we sedated him to the point where you had to hold him up on one side of the wall. He was hogtied his whole life when trimming his hooves, but it is not for definite. Now he stills must be lightly sedated to trim, but it is a huge transformation from when he first arrived. DaVinci does have PTSD from whatever abuse he received over the years as a stud. From all of this he will remain a permanent resident here. DaVinci is a loving sweet horse now that you can give love and attention to with a good ole brushing. He loves his girlfriend Lindsey who is always by his side. They will live their lives out together here at the rescue. In a way they helped each other heal from what they experienced. Since he has been here, he has blossomed into a large personality!
