Cody – Rideable – In Need of Sponsors

Cody is a 16-year-old Quarter Horse who stands at 14.5 hands tall. Cody came here with Jenna the Quarter Horse Mare back on May 12, 2022. This was a personal situation as the owner of these two horses passed away unexpectedly at the age of 69. The owner often came to the rescue to help around when he could. He always kept saying “If anything happens to me, please take good care of my horses” when visiting the rescue. He was a great man who will be missed dearly! Without hesitation, when the family contacted us about the horses, we said we would take them in. They didn’t need rehabilitation as they were still in pretty good shape. The family did not know how to properly feed them, so they did lose a little bit of weight. Cody is a social butterfly as he was making all kinds of friends upon arrival. He is very outgoing and lovable. He has now become close friends with Reno a BLM Mustang and Florist a Standardbred. Cody is sound for walk, trot, and canter along with being able to neck rein. He does extremely well under saddle and has had a great amount of training in his past. We believe an intermediate rider would suit him the best as he can be headstrong at times. He doesn’t get really buddy sour when leaving his friends to be ridden. He also loves attention from our volunteers and is very photogenic! He could be described as a big puppy dog as he loves to follow everyone around. We are hoping to get a riding video soon!
