Prada – Adopted to Her Forever Home!!

Prada is a 13-year-old Off-the-Track Thoroughbred Mare who stands at 15 hands. Her Jockey Club name is “Very Attractive” where she was born and raced in Canada. She was raced 48 times! She had 5 wins earning $31,664. It was decided that she would be the rescue’s 2020 Christmas save, even though we are at our limit. Come to find out this sweet girl had been through an auction and 2 kill pens all since mid-November. She arrived with 2 Coggins, one from LA (Stanley bros kill pen) and one from Sextons kill pen in TN. One kill pen is extremely stressful for a horse but 2 is just horrific!! When she first arrived, she had Ulcers in both the fore and hind gut (test performed), as ulcers can be caused from stress and kill pens are extremely stressful. Her Quad muscle on her rear left leg is pulled. (approx. 8-month recovery minimum). She was about a 2 on the body condition scale upon arrival, she was worse before spending some time in quarantine. It was hard to see since she had her winter coat but as soon as you touched her all you could feel are ribs. She is now fully rehabilitated weight wise, but her quad injury is still a long process. She must be hand walked or in a small pasture to help her quad heal. She was a sweet loving personality but a dash of spicy attitude but that is normal for mares. Prada has been fully rehabilitated and received a soundness check. She can only be lightly ridden on trails with no elevation and around the property. She will need to stay on her supplement in order to keep her moving good. Prada has been adopted for a young girl to share many memories and experiences ahead. She was adopted December 22,2021 just right before Christmas, a wonderful Christmas gift! We wish them both the best in making memories filled with love and joy.
