Jobe – Found His Forever Home!

Jobe is a 16-year-old Percheron who is taller than Angus! He has had a tough life with the Amish being a plow horse then most likely sold at auction, leading to him somehow ending up in Slaughter. Thankfully, the rescue saved Jobe. Jobe was our Christmas rescue in 2019. He arrived here at the rescue a little bit after Christmas. He was severely abused in his head when he first arrived you could not touch his face. In fact, trying to touch his face or moving around his face he would flinch and try his head to over his head out of your reach. He was very skinny, depressed, and along with a little limp. From being starved Jobe does have food aggression, he just makes sure everyone knows it is his food but does not hurt anyone. He had a bit of ringbone on his front right hoof. His hooves have been in terrible shape but thankfully Amy W. bought and had Draft size stocks shipped to the rescue. With the help of two volunteers Hunter and Glenn they were assembled and are ready to be used. His hooves will be done shortly, hopefully tomorrow May 26,2020. When he arrived, he did not know what a great was in fact he was not interested in them. After a few months here he learned to love treats! He will accept treats whenever and does not mind eating them. Jobe has learned that he is safe here and does not have to live in fear anymore. He will now ask to be loved by anyone who is willingly to show him love, he did not do that at first. He will walk up to you and slightly nudge you to ask for a little love. Jobe eats around 14 pounds of senior feed along with hay!! He is best friends with Dark Raider! He is starting to open to us showing great improvements. Jobe is on previcox from an old injury with the Amish and he has arthritis. He stands his ground with other horses, but he surely does not try to start any fights. On December 24, 2020 Jobe found his forever home with a wonderful little girl, as he was her Christmas present! He is giving him unconditional love and making sure he is happy.
