Joan of Ark is a 9-year-old, 15.2 hand Standardbred Cross mare. Joan is our amazing $85.00 SAVE from a kill auction. Upon arrival Joan was timid and shy, but with love and compassion she has blossomed into a sweet gal. The photo on the far right was taken when Joan arrived. After the auction a couple of foreign farm hands came to us, as we were getting ready to load her, and told us she rides and drives. Joan is a smart, funny girl who will trot across the pasture if you call her name! By the way — we also refer to Joan as “Joan Jett” and “Joanie” (of Joanie Loves Chachi fame).
Update September 20, 2016: Joan of Ark, one of the first auction horses, found her forever human with Jessica L! We outbid a kill buyer at the Lumberton AG sale, back in May, to save this sweet girl. Joan’s life was only worth $85 dollars then…but today Joan’s life is priceless to her new family! Everyone at Leilani Mae Horse Rescue wish Jessica and Joan a wonderful life together.
