Hero – Adopted to His Forever Home!
Hero is a 12 year old Rocky Mountain Red Roan Gelding who stands at 14.3 hands. He is a surrender case by a wonderful person who wanted to help him out. This woman called about about a horse being dropped in her lap from his previous owner because “he isn’t there headache anymore” while saying they would not provide feed and take care of him anymore. It seems like he doesn’t quite like being in the stall, he prefers staying in the pasture. He was labeled as a “Barn Sourness Issues” which we will work on with him. His previous owners were not that well experienced with horses so it was overwhelming them trying to take care of the horse with his daily needs and working him. The woman who took him him cannot afford to take her of her gelding and Hero so made a great decision call the rescue. We are thankful she was willing to bring Hero to us while we were preparing for him. He is a stunning horse! Hero is sound and he is a real nice mover, he is a little rusty so he will need a refresher but that won’t take long at all. Once he got here we realized how much of a sweetheart he was! He loves to walk around with the donkeys, even though they don’t 100% like him. He is pretty in-between of being a shy and outgoing horse, it all depends on who is around. He is still coming out of his shell! It definitely didn’t take long before he found a great forever home from Carrie, who has also adopted out Chippewa and Momma Dixie! He has now made a best friend who is a pony name Al Capone!
