June 24, 2016 — Here is Freedom Fred, a 14.3 hand, 16-year-old Standardbred. Fred was saved from a Louisiana feedlot and arrived to our care less than a month ago. We would like to thank the amazing people who saved his life. Upon arrival, Fred was depressed and loaded with worms, very thin, with neglected teeth, ulcers and he needed a good trim. In the care of experienced foster, Deborah Rush, he is slowly returning to his former glory. We believe that Fred was so depressed, upon arrival from the feedlot, that he did not utter a sound and moved only at a walk. Last week we were excited to hear that Fred has finally started trotting and letting out whinnies! Fred has turned out to be he sweetest guy you will ever meet.
