Dark Raider – Adopted to His Forever Home
Dark Raider is an 18-year-old Off-the-Track Thoroughbred who stands at 16.2 hands. He arrived at the rescue the same time Sandy’s Mystique arrived. He had to stay in quarantine for 10 weeks due to contracting strangles while he was in the Slaughter Pipeline. When he arrived, he was thin but with his great big appetite it did not take long for him to put on weight. Dark Raider is very head shy meaning it is obvious he was hit around his head. When you move too fast around his head he will jump or try his best to raise his head out of your range. It is sad but we have thankfully gained his trust. This horse is the most mischievous and busiest horse here, even more mischievous than Joker the Mustang! He always wants to know what you are doing and be a part of what you are doing. Dark Raider loves to prance, run, and show off when he is out in the pasture. He is way calmer and relax in a pasture rather than being in a stall. He had a back problem, probably from being crashed and not fixed so thankfully Nicole from Second Chance to Dance Therapy to help heal him. His back muscles were super tight, hurting him especially just touching it. Now he has been clear and is a completely different horse. Dark Raider is now looking for his forever home! Dark Raider can only walk and a small amount of trot, he cannot be lope/canter. Would be a great horse to do strolls around the property! He will need an experienced rider to be able to control him. He loves being brushed and someone who talks nicely to him. Dark Raider has finally found his forever loving home with Erika T!! He has adjusted to his new home very well as he showed off upon arrival, just Dark Raider being himself! We are super happy for him
