Champleve, an 8-year-old, 16.1 hand OTTB (Off-the-Track Thoroughbred). Champ’s last race was in April of 2012. After retiring from the track he began retraining to be a fox hunter in New Jersey. The farm manager said he was not going to make a fox-hunting horse because he did not like dogs—which we found to be very true!  The rescue took him in because we were afraid he would end up at an auction. Champ requires a special high fiber diet, and has a habit of sucking wind when eating and when bored. Fortunately he does not crib. Champ’s teddy bear personality wins the attention of visitors at the rescue.  On October 30, 2015 Champleve was adopted by Carson and her daughter Kinley.
