Florist – Rideable – In Need of Sponsors!
Florist is a 17 year old Standardbred Mare who stands at 15.3 hands. We decided to keep her U.S.T.A racing name as “Florist” since it seem fitting for her. During her racing career she had 23 starts winning her owner a little over $48,000. Her racing career was shortly lived because her pedigree was extremely decked out with high prized horses. On record she had 7 babies which 3 of them were racing making $128,000 combined. Sadly, right after her last foal was weaned she found herself in a Kill Pen. We knew she was freshly weaned because her teats still had milk in them. She arrived here at the rescue on April 29,2021 along with Rebetta a Thoroughbred. Florist is built more like a Thoroughbred! She was extremely skittish of humans where it was tricky to keep her defined in the ring or a stall just for feeding grain. She hated if we did something new to the environment and would freak out. She has grown so much mentally and physically. She can be stalled now and not just for being fed she has been stalled overnight. She tends to enjoy being in a pasture more during the daytime. She has received a riding evaluation and she would be best suited for an intermediate rider. She can be strong will at times but with the proper correction and consistent riding she will be a wonderful horse. She would be great for an older person who just wants to ride her around the property or do light trail rides.
