Bentley – Ready for Adoption – Companion Horse
Bentley is a 12-year-old Standardbred Gelding who stands at 16 hands. Bentley was a Harness Racer for 3 or 4 years with his USTA name as “Message to Mum” and won $22,000.00. After his racing career was over, he became an Amish buggy horse. The problem with Bentley being a buggy horse is he is not stout built he is quite slender making him lame quicker than other horses. Bentley has bone chips in his left stifle. It would be costly to get them removed and removing them is not 100% guaranteed that he will become sound, so he will continue his life as a companion horse. To keep him comfortable and out of pain he is on previcox. Sadly, Bentley is pretty low on the pecking order but has gained some confidence from becoming friends with Jobe the Percheron and Ella the Thoroughbred. He is a sweet and gentle horse who only looks for attention. He adores our volunteers who take the time to brush him. He has a unique marking on his face that almost looks like the state of Texas.
